The Escape (Short Manga)

A legend whispers that goldfish, created solely for human appreciation, once had true, original forms. If they escape and survive for five generations, they may reclaim their lost selves. Trapped in a plastic bag, a goldfish and her friend cling to this hope, mirroring the struggles of a woman in a modern city who has lost her spirit and connection to nature. Both search for freedom and a way back to their true selves.

This story later inspired the animated short film Monsoon Blue.
